Catalog description

Explores forest soils in managed and unmanaged ecosystems of the Oregon Willamette Valley and coast range with an emphasis on learning tools to observe, describe and quantify soil chemical and physical properties in the field and the laboratory. Guides students through the scientific process (hypothesis development, sample collection, lab analysis, data analysis and report writing) to investigate potential effects of forest management on local forest soils and their ability to support tree growth. (Core Education or Bacc Core Course if taken with SOIL 205 )
