Intro to GST/UAV

Catalog description

This course introduces students to geospatial technologies (GST) and the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) for data collection, reconnaissance, and research. Students will learn the history of the GST and UAV industries and explore current applications in a variety of industries. This course will prepare students to be conversant in the world of UAVs, basic aviation, safety, flying, mission planning, and general data gathering techniques. The course also covers basic Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, weather, radio communications and navigation, safety, aerodynamics, airspace, and emergency procedures for the UAV pilot and can serve as preparation for the FAA knowledge test for remote pilots, often referred to as Part 107.
