ST: Intro to PLC

Catalog description

This course will introduce students to the basic principles that govern the function and operation of the programmable logic controller (PLC) at an introductory level. It focuses on the common input and output devices that are typical in sequential and process control applications. Topics include: PLC applications, logic concepts and ladder diagrams, CPU, memories, input/output devices, safety issues, maintenance techniques, I/O and memory addressing, and ladder logic programming language. One lecture hour and a two hour laboratory. Prerequisite(s): ELT 141 or ELM 114.
