Industrial Electricity II

Catalog description

This introductory course on AC electricity explores the fundamental concepts and principles of alternating current, including voltage, current, and power while also reviewing basic series and parallel circuits using DC voltage sources. Analysis includes using Ohm's Law, Watt's Law, Kirchoff's Laws, and calculating impedance. Simplifying complex circuits to a singular representative circuit will be explored in more depth. The course will explore and utilize Alternating Current (AC) voltage sources and common AC components including capacitors and inductors. Their behavior in a circuit will be investigated. Laboratory exercises emphasize the construction, analysis, measurement, and troubleshooting of circuits using appropriate laboratory equipment. One lecture hour and two lab hours per week are required for this course. Prerequisite(s): ELM-104.
