Catalog description
This course is designed to introduce students to electric motor construction and control concepts. Students will learn about the common motors found in industrial settings and methods of controlling speed and position in both open and closed loop systems. Students will explore mathematical relationships converting electrical power to mechanical motion. An undestanding of the variety of mechanical systems driven by electric motors will be explored. One lecture hour and two lab hours per week are required for this course. Prerequisite(s): ELM-101, ELM-102, and ELM-104.
