Catalog description
This course is designed to introduce students to the power of communication in a variety of applications and contexts. The course introduces students to a range of communication theories, and provides opportunities to apply those theories to communication phenomena. Possible contextual focuses for the course could include: the rhetoric of social movements, strategic communication through song, the rhetoric of religion, family communication, or other emerging topics within the field. Class activities, discussions, readings, and assignments are designed to develop a better understanding of communication theories and skills through critical analysis of communication phenomena.
