Chemistry and Society

Catalog description

This course covers the fundamentals of chemistry as they relate to the world around us. Topics covered include Matter, Air and Pollutants, Electromagnetic Radiation (including sunlight), Water, Energy (sources and storage), Polymers and Plastics, Food and Nutrition, and Health and Medicine. This course is intended for non-science majors, and will not fulfill the chemistry requirements for health science programs. It is recommended that the student has completed one year of high school algebra.
