Catalog description

This course acquaints the student with rating systems that seek to define and measure sustainable, high performing "green" buildings. The course will focus on the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED® Green Building Rating System portfolio of rating products and the major LEED® categories including sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy & atmosphere, materials & resources, indoor environmental quality, and innovative design. Students will learn about the integrated design approach and the LEED® process and credit intents, requirements, and strategies. Other significant rating systems will be discussed and comparisons made with the LEED® system. Prerequisite: ARH/IND 140 or permission of department.
