Catalog description
This course discusses the expansion of the nurse's role into the local, state, and national levels. Health promotion, health prevention, and health maintenance are assessed and evaluated in relation to sociopolitical forces and the health care delivery system. The effects of the environment on health are analyzed, and modification of risk factors in aggregates is explored, along with principles of epidemiology. Students will accompany a community health nurse to further understand these concepts. Students will also research a community health concern and address possible solutions to remedy the issue. Students will collaborate within a group through research, project developments, implementation, and evaluation of their findings. The groups will present the outcomes to their select organizations.
