Catalog description
Part one of the capstone engineering experience. Student teams design a real-world problem solution for a local company or organization. Students work under the supervision of a company or organization contact and meet regularly with a faculty mentor. Students keep a design journal and produce written and oral deliverables documenting the design process, culminating in a major Design Project Proposal report. In parallel with the design process, the course covers advanced technical communication topics, including technical writing and oral presentation skills. This course also prepares students for the engineering profession or graduate school with several seminar topics and a review for the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam. Prerequisite: Senior status in Engineering.
