Catalog description

Description: This course explores the musical features and vocal styles represented in the second half of the 20th century musical theatre literature, extending to contemporary works, including rock, pop, county, and folk. Core topics include tone, diction, phrasing, and vibrato as well as the physicality and movements associated with a style period. Students apply these styles and techniques to their own performance. The course includes critical viewing and listening of musical theatre repertoire.
