Description: Foundations of mathematical concepts for prospective middle school teachers, emphasizing conceptual understanding, in-class investigations, writing mathematical explanations, and analyzing students' thinking. Topics include middle-grade number concepts such as ratio and proportion, negative numbers, exponents, factors and multiples, and prime numbers, and algebra concepts such as expressions and equations. Additional topics selected from geometry, probability, or statistics.
