Description: Introduction to the origin, development, and maturation of the African Diaspora in the Americas and the Caribbean, beginning on the African continent and moving through the Americas, Caribbean, and Europe. It considers important issues, such as the formation of racial identities, movements, the circulation of ideas and connections in activism, and the manner in which the intersection of race, class, gender, sexuality, location, language, and power influence how groups and individuals experience diaspora.
