Description: The course explores the world of deserts and semi­deserts, which together cover almost a half of the Earth's land surface, and almost a third of North America's, as well as areas threatened by drought. The course focuses on the nature of dryland environments and the challenges faced by human communities living in such environments, as well as the mechanisms of drought and desertification. No credit for students with degree credit in GEOG 5023 .
