Description: Beginning with human embryology we ask: Why does human anatomy look the way it does? This course follows this question into broader inquiries on metazoan origins, diversification, and vertebrate morphologies. This is a flipped course teaching embryology and developmental genetics in an explicitly evolutionary framework with particular focus on the diversity of living vertebrates and the interpretation of fossil vertebrates.
