Catalog description

Description: An introduction to the history of photography from its beginnings in the early nineteenth century to the present. Emphasis will be on art and documentary photography in Europe and the United States. Photographs will be studied for their aesthetic, technical, cultural, and scientific purposes. The primary goal of the course is to promote critical and theoretical thinking about photographic images, their meaning, and impact on society.
