This course includes an examination of how to read for understand- ing and insight; how to undertake refl ective, critical analysis of what is Course # Course Name Credit Hours Course # Course Name Credit Hours * Denotes cross-listed course + Denotes dual-listed course read; how to structure critical viewpoints and interpretations; and how to write effectively about texts. Required of all English majors and minors. (spring) 2403 British Literature: Medieval to Early Modern 3 British literature from the Old English period until the end of the Restoration period with a nod to the Augustan age; materials arranged chronologically according to major historical periods, literary movements; major authors, history of ideas, and representative texts from different genres in poetry, drama, and prose. Possible authors: Chaucer, Spenser, Marlowe, Donne, Swift, Defoe, Dryden, and Pope.
