This course is taken concurrently with Student Teaching and focuses on the foundations of American education and their impact on teach- ers in school reform and the organization and administration of schools. Strategies for managing such concerns as parent involvement, legal issues, collaboration with colleagues, and multicultural student popula- tions are emphasized. This required course is the fi nal course in the pro- fessional education sequence. Students present their professional portfo- lios as part of the assessment. (fall, spring) 4733 Methods of Teaching Health and Physical Education 3 Techniques of instruction to create learning experiences and envi- ronments that support differences in students and promote positive inter- action in the classroom; communication techniques that foster inquiry and collaboration and encourage critical thinking and problem-solving; instructional planning and analysis and critique of discipline models and methods. Microteaching during the 30 hours of required fi eld experience provides opportunities to prepare and deliver lessons.
