Catalog description
This course addresses three primary areas of sports economics: indus- trial organization, labor economics, and public fi nance. It addresses each of these in the context of the major segments of sports. Special atten- tion is given to cartel behavior, labor markets in a monopsony and public issues of fi nancing and returns to stakeholders within professional athlet- ics. University athletics as practiced in the United States as well as bid- ding, costs, and returns of special events such as the Olympics and World Cup games.
