Catalog description
The course is the fourth course in the Nursing sequence. This course builds on previous content for the second year Nursing student as members of a profession and developing manager of care. Students develop person-centered complex plans of care that respect the individual's cultural beliefs. Students are introduced to the complex ethical and legal issues related to critically ill and end-of-life nursing care. Students are introduced to delegation and supervision as part of the management of care while caring for multiple patients. Therapeutic communication expands to include collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and ancillary health care staff. Nursing competencies are acquired in the skills lab with simulated learning experiences include high/low fidelity scenarios and virtual software. Clinical application of outcomes occurs in acute and community clinical sites.
