Introduction to Esports

Catalog description

This is a noncredit introductory course where students examine the history and grassroots growth of competitive esports. Students review the wide variety of careers that have spawned in this dynamic industry and examine popular esports communication and streaming applications. Students learn about the games with the largest competitions, both in the commercial world as well as collegiate and high school leagues. Students demonstrate understanding of how emerging technologies enabled large scale viewership supporting the remarkable rise of esports as an industry. Not applicable to associate degree.
