Catalog description

This course involves the study of belief systems of cultures around the world, examining religious practice, spirituality, and myths from an anthropological perspective. Students analyze the functions of religious beliefs and the varied expressions of religion through ritual behaviors, use of magic, cures, and witchcraft. A multicultural perspective of religious beliefs and practices is explored, with an emphasis on how cultures confront fundamental questions of existence.
