Understanding the German language in its historical development, standardization and its contemporary manifestations. Systematic overview of German phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, and varieties of modern German. Prereq: 2102 or equiv, or permission of instructor. Repeatable to a maximum of 6 cr hrs.
