Provides graduate students with the opportunity to develop and conduct basic and applied Dental Hygiene research required for the completion of a master's thesis. Prereq: Admission to MDH program, and permission of thesis advisor. Repeatable to a maximum of 18 cr hrs or 6 completions. This course is graded S/U. Dentistry 5798.01 Exploring Global Oral Health U D 1 This elective course prepares dental and dental hygiene students for a global service-learning experience focused on understanding global oral health and cultural competencies. Students will explore global oral health challenges, ethical considerations, and civic responsibility, gaining essential skills for clinical and community outreach work in resource-limited settings. Prereq: Dental students and/or Dental Hygiene students in good academic standing. Dental Program and Academic year eligibility is based on specific program requirements.This course is graded S/U. 5798.02 Global Oral Health Field Experience U D ½ This elective course provides dental and dental hygiene students with a global service-learning field experience focused on understanding global oral health and cultural competencies. Combining community-based education with structured reflection, this course integrates global health perspectives and cultural competencies through study and/or practice abroad, as well as reflective exercises.
