Involves advanced study of topics of theoretical and/or empirical research in accounting. Topics vary with instructor and may change from one semester to another. Please contact instructor for a detailed description. Course may be repeated for up to 6 semester credits. If multiple topics courses are taken in fulfillment of a degree requirement, the topics course offerings must be distinct. Prereq: Enrollment in the undergraduate program or MAcc program; and permission of instructor. 6000 Management & Control G 2½ Fundamental role of uncertainty, risk and private information in accounting; emphasis on managerial decisions and control problems in organizations. Prereq: Enrollment in Master of Accounting Program. Not open to students with credit for 803. 6001 Fundamentals of Accounting Data & Analytics G 2½ Provides an introduction to using large datasets to better understand corporate financial reporting and market behavior. Prereq: Enrollment in Master of Accounting Program. 6200 Financial Reporting G 2½ Examination of major aspects of corporate financial reporting by management under U.S. GAAP, including: revenue recognition, financial statement presentation, and disclosures and accounting for long-term debt, deferred taxes, and stock-based compensation, along with discussion of accounting standard setting and financial statement analysis.
