Introduction to the theories and practices of teaching and learning of literacy for children in early and middle childhood. Major themes of the course are a child-centered philosophy of literacy instruction and diversity awareness - the need for teachers to be aware of the diversity of backgrounds and abilities that children bring to the classroom and of strategies for dealing with that diversity. Prereq: Not open to students with credit for EduTL 5468.
