Introduction to the use of discourse analysis in classroom instruction. Focus on principles, practices, analysis of instructional conversations, and implications for enhancing student learning. The course engages students in conducting discourse analyses of their own classrooms. Students must currently be teaching or co-teaching in a classroom and be able to video record events in that classroom. Prereq: Enrollment in either M.A or M.Ed programs; or permission of instructor. Not open to students with credit for EduTL 6301. Repeatable to a maximum of 6 cr hrs.
