Catalog description
In this course we will examine representative works of Soviet and Russian war fiction and film through three major Russian wars: WWII (the Great Patriotic War), the Soviet-Afghan War, and the Chechen War. We will look at the experience of war through the prism of historical trauma and memory and explore the individual and social discourses of the phenomenon in question. Prereq: 4102, or permission of instructor.
