Examines the socio-historical factors and the linguistic processes that contributed to the formation of the Romance languages and to their divergences. Course taught in English. Prereq: Equivalent of 1103 in Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Romanian, or Latin; or permission of instructor. Not open to students with credit for 692, French 692, Italian 5051 (692), or Clas 5051. Cross-listed in Clas and Italian.
