Professional service in school or community settings. Prereq: Admission to the Special Education program, or permission of instructor. Repeatable to a maximum of 12 cr hrs or 12 completions. This course is graded S/U. 3251 Introduction to Explicit Instruction U 1½ This course lays the foundations for providing evidence-based instruction to students by learning how to design lessons that focus on explicit instruction. Students will learn how to plan intensive, specially-designed instruction for students with disabilities. The course focuses on designing lessons that are driven by clearly defined learning objectives, planned and effective modeling. 3252 Strategies for Active Student Responding U 1½ This course provides guiding principles, basic strategies, and practical techniques for enhancing: designing lessons to ensure that each student makes many active curriculum-related responses and providing effective and efficient instructional feedback to students. These strategies can also be applied to one-to-one instruction, peer/cooperative-learning activities, independent work and homework
