ASL Linguistics

Catalog description

This course examines the linguistic aspects of American Sign Language (ASL), including phonology, morphology, pragmatics, syntax, semantics, and sociolinguistic variations in ASL. Students will demonstrate their understanding through thoughtful connections, comparative analyses, and engaging in an in-depth exploration of ASL linguistics. Prereq: Successful completion of two 3000 or above-level ASL courses with a C- or above; or permission of department.
