This course explores sociocultural perspectives as the primary framework for understanding a social constructivist approach to learning and teaching in early childhood education. This course draws on the original sociocultural learning theory of Lev Vygotsky. Prereq: Permission of department. Cross-listed in EduTL. 5150 Introduction to Assistive Technologies to Support U G 1½ Students with Disabilities in Classrooms This introductory online course is designed to provide special educators with knowledge of low- and high-tech assistive technology (AT) in order to expand the ability of their students to communicate and to access learning in classroom settings. The course will explore how intervention specialists can work within a team of professionals to assess students' needs 5151 Twice and Thrice Exceptional Students U G 1½ This course introduces participants to gifted and talented (GATE) students with disabilities/exceptionalities, also known as Twice Exceptional (2E) and Thrice Exceptional (3E). We focus primarily on 2E and 3E students who have learning disabilities (LD). We also focus on ADHD, autism, visual and hearing impairments, and developmental delays.
