Catalog description

Students will learn field techniques for measuring and quantifying forest ecosystems, and the impacts and outcomes of different forest management practices. This includes tree and stand level measurements, taking inventory, as well as basic navigation and orienteering for field work. All classes and labs will be conducted outdoors, regardless of weather conditions. Students should be physically prepared for extensive hiking, navigating hilly and uneven ground, and occasionally scrambling up slopes. This class provides students with practical skills for future employment in environmental and forestry fields.
