Catalog description

This course provides an overview of therapeutic and medical play techniques used in child life practice. Students learn the theoretical framework of play therapy, the foundational elements of child-centered play, and play functions in various settings. Course content focuses on the impact of life-threatening, chronic, and terminal illnesses and end-of-life and trauma issues of the hospitalized child/family. Students examine and discuss child-centered play therapy techniques that address children and families.
