Catalog description

This introductory course provides a foundational overview of gerontological concepts by exploring the processes and meanings of ‘growing old’ in today’s society. Specifically, attention is given to understanding how developmental and life course aspects influence the aging experience and inform individual, familial, and societal conceptions of and actions concerning old age. This cultivates a richer insight into, and an appreciation for, the significance of older persons in shaping family and societal dynamics.
