Catalog description

This course combines with clinical/field experiences to develop skills needed by early childhood and elementary educators to work with families and children who receive services and supports under IDEA in early childhood and elementary programs. The course content includes Universal Design of curricula and assessments, including curriculum modifications, instructional and management adaptations, and the use of positive behavior intervention and supports. Students learn strategies for effective assessment and progress monitoring, collaboration with various stakeholders, and accessing related and support services. Through the course content and assignments, students acquire the skills needed for instructing and managing an inclusive classroom (preschool through fifth grade).
