Catalog description

This course uses a critical analysis of hip-hop and youth culture aesthetics as a lens for understanding teaching in a culturally diverse society. It explores how educators can use hip-hop and youth culture to investigate social justice themes that students face daily and particularly within schools. Course content also focuses on the social identities of youth (e.g., age, ability, race, class, gender, and sexuality) and the implications of intersectionality on their experiences in and outside of school.
