Catalog description

This course focuses on increasing awareness, sensitivity, and understanding of children and families from diverse racial, ethnic, linguistic, religious, and family backgrounds. Students gain an understanding of structural racism and its impact on educational systems. Instructional frameworks such as culturally relevant pedagogy and equity pedagogy are explored. Implicit bias and anti-racist educational practices are examined. Students discuss the role of advocacy and ethical principles related to supporting children and the education profession.
