Catalog description

Traditional dances of Africa. Students will learn to recognize movements, rhythms, songs, instruments, and paraphernalia by country and selected ethnic groups through a practical and theoretical approach. Will explore intermediate African dance movements coming from ceremonial dances, focusing on facial expressions, meaning, and execution of movement. Six different dance types from 6 different ethnic groups will be learned.
