Catalog description

In this course, students explore the broad applications of dance and movement practices in supporting individual and community health on local, regional, national, and global scales. Through engaging with readings, viewings, movement activities and interactive lectures, students investigate the impact of dance participation on community health and well-being; how historic and contemporary systems of caregiving, healing, support, recovery and healthcare intersect with dance and movement practices; the social, economic, environmental and political inequities that affect access to dance participation; and how dance is connected to the public policies, social norms and the general welfare of communities.
