Catalog description

Focuses on the practice of Evidence-Based Design (EBD), basing design decisions on research evidence to create design solutions that are not only creatively inspired but also result in more consistently successful design solutions. Emphasis is on barrier-free design concepts, universal design application, and code compliance. Design investigations include research, programming, analysis, theory, ideation and conceptualization, schematic design, project evaluation, refinement, materials, finishes, detailing, furnishings, lighting, communication graphics, and formal presentation. Topics vary based on current social issues. Students must maintain a computer workstation in the studio.
