Catalog description

This course introduces students to the use of typography as a symbolic form. Students study typographic history, nomenclature, and meaning generation through letterform construction and typeface design, they learn about typographic sequencing, typographic hierarchy through layout and form, typographic editing and adjustments, readability, and legibility assessment. Students address contemporary typographic issues as they design their own typeface and use their newly created font in a final design project.
