Introduces students to research on contemporary issues faced by state and federal correctional systems. The course draws from multidisciplinary scholarship that examines offender decision making, factors that promote recidivism, and how to successfully reintegrate inmates back into society. Prereq: Completion of a 3000-level or higher Sociol course, and Jr or Sr standing; or Grad standing; or permission of instructor or department.
