Catalog description

Foundations This course introduces the Finite Element Method (FEM) for solid mechanics with a focus on practical implementation. Students learn theory, formulation, and modeling essentials, including elasticity, weak forms, shape functions, mesh generation, constraints, integration, solver strategies, error estimation, and advanced topics for multiphysics and nonlinear applications. Prereq: Grad standing in engineering; or permission of instructor.
