Teaching Writing to Students with Disabilities

Students will learn about how to use the following approaches to support students' writing development: strategy instruction, explicit instruction, writing process approach, and writers' workshop. During the field-based clinical placement, students will administer informal pre-and post-assessments, identify appropriate student goals and objectives, implement lesson plans to align with goals. Prereq: 2251 or equivalent. 4743 Individualized Education Programs U 1½ This course will focus on the role intervention specialists play throughout the IEP process - before, during, and after the IEP meeting. Completion of this course will help candidates gain s kills in gathering and analyzing assessment data, participating in the evaluation team (ETR process), collaborating with families and professionals, writing ambitious and realistic goals, identifying services. Prereq: 2251, or equiv.
