Gothic Art, Architecture, and Ecology in Paris

Catalog description

This course investigates the cathedrals of Gothic Paris and the Ile de France, the most famous monuments of European medieval art. The course explores the history of these buildings in their cultural, political, social, artistic, environmental, and ecological contexts. The course covers medieval buildings but also the sculptures, stained glass, textiles, and precious objects that filled them. This is an education abroad course. Prereq: Permission of instructor.
