Africa Focuses on the rich variety, aesthetic beauty, and political significance of popular music in modern African cities, as well as contemporary urban locations within the African diaspora. In these social and cultural contexts, students will further explore the intersectionality of race, gender, sexuality, class, ethnicity, and religion, in various constellations, through the lens of popular music.
