Catalog description

Upon completion of this course, students will have a basic understanding of the function and operation of the major elements of personal computer systems, laptops, tablets and mobile devices, and how to localize and correct common hardware and software problems. Students will have hands-on, real-world experience to reinforce the concepts. Students will also gain experience setting up a Local Area Network (LAN), understanding configurations, the architecture, structure, functions, components, and models of the Internet and other computer networks; the principles and structure of IP addressing and the fundamentals of Ethernet concepts, media, and operations; beginning router and switch configuration; and implementation of IP addressing schemes. Special emphasis will be placed on how systems are configured, modified, and expanded to meet new requirements.
