Catalog description

Advanced Nursing course emphasizing the integration of nursing science, interprofessional collaboration, and evidence based practice to provide holistic, person centered care for adults experiencing complex and multisystem health deviations. An application of advanced clinical reasoning, leadership, and quality improvement principles within the spheres of palliative and restorative care. Through simulation, case analysis, and clinical practice, students develop and implement comprehensive care plans that address physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual dimensions of health. The course incorporates End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium, ELNEC modules to strengthen competencies in communication, symptom management, ethics, and compassion in palliative and end of life care. Students engage in reflective practice, utilize informatics for clinical decision making, and demonstrate accountability, professionalism, and self care consistent with nursing standards and values. Restriction: Nursing, Senior level. Prerequisites: Grade of C+ or higher in all of NURS 316, NURS 316L, NR 211, NR 261. Corequisite: NURS 416L. Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer.
