Catalog description

This 50 hour clinical course provides experiential learning in delivering developmental, family centered, and evidence based nursing care to infants, children, adolescents, and their families across varied healthcare settings. Students apply concepts from the didactic course while using clinical reasoning, therapeutic communication, and quality improvement principles to promote health and manage acute and chronic conditions. Experiences in hospital, community, and simulation settings emphasize health promotion, collaboration, and safety. Reflective activities support self awareness, professional identity formation, and leadership in pediatric nursing practice. Requisite: Nursing, Junior or higher. Prerequisites: Grade of C+ or higher in NURS 316, NURS 316L. Corequisite: NURS 341. Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer.
